Big part of his 1st symphony being a flap was the conductor, Glazunov was drunk and people were walking out.

You didn't mention that pop singer Eric Carmen used 2 Rachmaninov's compositions in his songs, 2nd piano concerto where in some performances he also played a solo part of it and symphony nr2 in another. Eric studied piano at the conservatory for 5 years and was a classical pianist before switching to vocals and composition / lyrics of his songs. He is a big fan of Rachmaninov's music. In his American home Rachmaninov planted lilacs he loved, they massively grew in Ivanovka. He also composed a piano piece he called Lilacs.
