Scotland - 06:28am - woke up from a storm outside, All is now quiet time to get back to sleep!

I listened to most of this around 2:30 am as I couldn’t sleep. Still took about an hour but I had a lot to think about and finally this quietened my busy brain.

When my kids were little I’d often sleep in 2 shifts, I’d put them to bed around 7, go into my room and wait till they’d fall asleep then I’d fall asleep myself for a few hours, wake up and be up till 12 or 1 then go back to sleep then be up again at six. Felt so natural. Don’t do it now they’re teens, life’s too busy

I’m so glad I found this video at listened all the way through. I started it after waking up around 2 am and spending 30 minutes stressing out over not being able to go back to sleep. Now, after listening until the end, I’m more aware that sometimes the body just reverts back to natural sleeping patterns and that’s ok! Have a good night, everyone. I hope you all find peace ☺️.

Very well made 👍 There is an explanation of this in anthropology. 99% of humans existence we lived in a caves or open field. It required someone who goes sleep late to watch if fire is burning and to wake up others in case of hostile creatures. In a tribe there was also someone who wake up very early to take the 'shift' from the' owl person'.

This way nowadays there are people who prefer nights or days. But now is getting interesting-- there is a lot of studies showing that a nap is very important to manage energy and keep people healthy. It is neuro-reset, it drops down blood pressure, improve food absorption, metabolic rate and more.
Now feudalism forced people to sleep right after darkness and industrial era rejected naps calling it a laziness. Day and night cycle is way more complex and individual than nowadays society is implying. This is probably why so many people suffer heart disease and anxiety. The social norms pushes sleeping paterns into one frame against mechanism evolved 400 000 years ago.

I really love your videos, not to sleep because I'm actually enjoying all the interesting little details and stories. I just have them on in the background while I do casual work.

I currently have the flew and it's good to be reminded of all those poor people who were way worse off. Half past one in the night in Sweden now.
