They Cremated Alan Turing Before Anyone Tested the Apple

On 8 June 1954, a cleaner found Alan Turing dead in his bed. A half-eaten apple sat on the table beside him. The inquest opened the next day. It heard evidence, reached a verdict of suicide, and closed — all within twenty-four hours of the body being found. Turing was cremated four days later. The apple was never tested for cyanide. That's not a detail from a conspiracy theory. It's in the official record, and it's the reason a growing number of historians now say the verdict cannot actually be supported by the evidence that was presented.
