Totally understandable and there are specific applications for these methods. I personally prefer rubbing compounds, polishing compounds, and fine scratch compounds. Deeper or more intense work, I'll definitely step into using sand papers.<br>Edit: for scratches, I find that using compounds then rubbing it in by hand in the same direction of the scratches really helps it disappear as the process continues on.

I have the diy line and been using this system for a couple of years now and like how the polish does not sling on the panel while polishing with the gold standard polish. I use a wool damp pad for scratches and follow up with a waffle pad with the 25mm. Im hesitant to use the diy compound with the rotary wool pad with my rotary then finish with my waffle pad. So use to the wool , waffle, finish with rotary jewel on speed 1 . Takes a long time. 25m but its flawless shine .

Less is more. Factory, light contact. I polish a panel and go back for the scratches. Over the decades you just know by color and depth of scratch what you can take out, diminish or need to do a fill or sand. I practiced almost 50 years ago on hoods and fenders of cars in a junk yard. Clear coat was difficult during its early years but today's finishes and products are amazing. You can make a good dollar as a side hustle in detailing paint. Not fun to do if you are doing carpets and seats too because of the time involved doing full service is longer turn around. Distance, 4ft polish is good, me not seeing it at 2ft from a standing position is them thinking it is gone. Its never gone, just cannot see it.

I tell people all the time - you are not shooting for 100% perfect from 5 inches away. You are shooting for a 80% from a foot - which means 95-98% of people couldn't pick it out from from 18 inches.

Shouldn't you be sealing the paint after final polish?

Has the door been painted before? Looks to have a little more orange peel than normal.

If that were my personal car I’d use sandpaper just to wet sand and get rid of all that orange peel.

How about the chemical pens? I tried it on a clear coat scratch and it disappeared.
