  Every time I would drive near the Bayou It was so creepy you would hear like thousands of different wildlife. It basically sounds and feels like you’re in a spooky jungle.And all types of mysterious things are in there

  Grew up on the Amite River. In fact, it was the literal backyard of my childhood home. Our home was a big red house with wrap around decks &amp; 12 feet off the ground on stilts. It sat on top of a tall bluff over the river. If you’ve ever been “Tiki Tubing” in Watson, LA….you’ve most certainly seen it, or where it used to stand. That sand bar everyone stops to hang out at was where my family spent every summer. <br><br>That river is more treacherous than people assume. Not only is there a strong undercurrent, but the river bed is full of tangled debris that can snatch you under in the blink of an eye. Manchac, Maurepas, the Amite, the Tickfaw…..lots of secrets buried in those waters!

  You should look into the Amite River more. The Choctaw settlement there. The mounds. There are still mounds today along the river.

  Yes its us 48 miles south of New Orleans yall come down here we will bring hunting 65 miles from the bridge come on we see what we hunting 😊

  Grew up every weekend, running barefoot through that very swamp. Is it dangerous? Yes<br>Did we all enjoy it? Absolutely. 👍<br>We are all old now, but those were great adventures. ❤

  My grandmother grew up in Tangi Parish. It’s a creepy little fisherman town with the freshest seafood. We would drive there every weekend.<br>Here in St. Charles parish we go alligator gar fishing in the suction of the Bonne Caree spillway at night. <br>It’s creepy but a few beers will cure that fear. LOL! Then we go play on the water! <br>Mai yea sha!

  As someone born and raised in south Louisiana, I can promise you anything you hear about &quot;The Swamp&quot; is all bullshit.😂😂 the most peaceful place to be at night is the swamp, its quite and full of good life and full of hunting camps/hunting leases. Absolutely nothing more EXCEPT mosquitoes!!
