  I hate the implication that no one helping others who are suffering on that mountain shows a lack of compassion. There is no compassion involved. They simply can not help. If they tried, they'd probably die too.

  "Abandoned by their Sherpas" umm, they were saving their own lives and following rational decisions to NOT die because of someone's stupidity. Get it right. 🙄🙄🙄

  Besides Sherpas doing 70% of the work, its too expensive, too crowded, too polluted, too sad.

  I knew a guy I used to climb with he was extremely experienced and had done some very high altitude climbs but he said Everest was scary as shit. He’d never do it again. He felt very alone even though he was in a group. He knew if something happened no one was going to help him. They made that pretty clear. Funny thing was there were some very inexperienced people in his group. He wondered how they were even allowed to be there. He said it was all about money. No one was really vetted. Maybe it’s different now. This was years ago. It’s not bravery it’s vanity.

  "...she became the first German and first woman to die high on Everest". That's an accomplishment she'll never get to know she achieved.

  I've always believed David sharp went up there, knew he couldn't make it down, and died on the mountain.  He told people he was fine, to leave him there. He CHOSE to go up without oxygen knowing he could die. Nobody should be responsible for saving you if you make bad choices.
