That was John Hammond smoking his blues harp. There was some serious blues royalty on the stage. Besides John Lee Hooker, there was Elvin Bishop, Albert Collins, and Willie Dixon up on the stage; they joined George Thorogood, Jeff Simon, Billy Blough, and Hank Carter. All of them blew the roof off the building. They were awesome.

Never thought Elvin Bishop ever got the recognition he deserved. Killer slide and blues player.

I met JLH backstage, locally, in 1989. As great a man as ever! Music and memories are long lived!

Does anyone else notice at 1:18 when JLH walks on stage that George does something with his guitar and everything gets a bit louder for a little while. Makes his walk onto stage even better as it all seems to pick up even more

All our Rock and Metal would never have come to life without those real heroes like Dixon, Hooker, Collins and of course B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters. It was them who invented Hard Rock. And George and his Destroyers are hard to beat. Hard workers, great music. It's a sheer joy to watch them all playing the kind of music that will never fade.

I don't know if anyone younger than 60 truly appreciates the assembled talent onstage on this particular night.....I have only one word: EPIC.....GT is the real deal too. As a musician, I've always admired his unique talent.

I'm trying to imagine Mr Hooker stepping onto the stage when I was in my blues band twenty years ago. I'd have just about fainted with the sheer joy and love and pride of it.
