14:34 - This French steamer is one good looking machine. This is the first I have seen of it after a lifetime as a train fan. Good story behind it as well.

It is hard to believe the corporation that gave us the 1963 Corvette also gave us the Aerotrain. It is however easy to see how the folks that gave us the Aerotrain also gave us the Pontiac Aztek.

Too many F units in the GG1 segment. GG1's were ultimately doomed by cracking frames and PCB's in their transformers.

When the PRR was in the process of ordering new electric locomotives for it's main lines, it borrowed a recent acquisition by the connecting New Haven Railroad, an EF-3 2-C+C-2 Boxcab Electric ordered from GE in 1930. The New Haven EP-3a was tested against the PRR's then current main line electric loco, the P5a, and it showed far better acceleration and tracking characteristics. As a result of the testing, the EP-3 was used as the basis of GE's design for the PRR GG-1. Raymond Lowey's sleek design for the streamlined carbody gave the unit its distinctive look.
