As a father of girls myself I add my 2¢. Locks on windows and extra locks on your doors. A standard dead bolt is not enough. And finally...CAMERAS all all corners of your house and a two way communication camera on all outside doors. Things are looking great! 💪☺️

I would suggest putting the TV on the blank wall and facing the couch towards it. Hang art over the fireplace. Over the fireplace is not a comfortable eye level for watching TV. You could put a very narrow long table behind the couch to hold a couple of small lamps, etc. The chair could go in the window corner angled toward the open room and then there's room for a small round table beside the chair and a standing lamp.

Just an observation and not trying to be negative but the couch and chair are too oversized looking for the room. I know they were free but if you're ever going to replace them try to opt for something without the giant rectangular arms. You could still achieve the same seating size and comfort level with a sleeker design and smaller, less obtrusive arms. That way the seating won't dominate the room so much and will give you a more cohesive look. I would put the recliner chair in another room (primary bed maybe) and add another more interesting looking chair that's a different color and material. Since space is limited and there doesn't appear to be an entry closet you could hang a nice coat/hat rack on the wall between the window and the door with a small table underneath with a bowl for your keys, etc.

I think you should wait to cut the bed post until you have more in the bedroom. The post is the only thing to look at so that's why it stands out to you so much. I'm not against cutting the post. Just wait until you get some night stands and lamps ect...

Before you cut the posts, live with it a while. The tops of the posts were designed to hold a canopy and cutting it would look weird.

13:48 put the TV on the wall, not above the fireplace. Then you can face the couch towards the TV and the chair in front of the window or angled from corner and then a floor lamp & small side table/drink table next to the chair.
Ideally a different colored/material chair (leather for example) to add more texture.

Drapes ceiling to floor, again to add texture.

Possible add a stool or 2 (if there’s space) in front of/near the fireplace.
Then a coffee table and a slender cabinet with doors under the TV to add storage (vs no doors with open shelves)

Definitely face the bed towards the window, it will definitely fit and the foot posts would frame the window and feel so nice. Also get a circular rug for the living room so it doesnt add any more angles and jut out into the pathway past the living room

A tip i learned from my mother-in-law for bedding... use a King size duvet on a Queen sized bed. It will hang almost to floor and hide the inner bed frame.

    hello ,
just a suggestion , because the fire place in a corner , you can treated as an art future rather than orienting your furniture around it
put a TV consul with a TV in the empty wall , with the couch facing it , and a chair in the corner (preferably not a match to the coach exp: leather or another color and texture ) with a standing lamp above it and anchor it with a rug ,
this way you create a separation between the entry and the Livingroom zones , also the TV will be at more comfortable eye level .
u can put the art you love that you thrifted last week above the fire place . round coffee table to break the squire angles .

We had to move our TV from over the fireplace because our necks where always hurting from looking up.
Should be eye level.

What about having the bed facing the window instead? I love having my bed facing a window, I can sit in bed and look out at the trees so cozy then:)

Place the love seat parallel to the door - a little closer into the living space and put a narrow sofa table behnid it to hide the cord - great space for holding keys etc. and a little lamp.
