  Squids without shells rarely ever fossilize, there could have certainly been kraken sized squid that terrorized the ancient seas.

  Remember kids: only &nbsp;a tiny percent of ancient creatures have been fossilized.<br> Horrible horrible things lived back then unmeant for your eyes.

  I used to call my mother-in-law &quot;the Kraken,&quot; as she too descended from invertebrates 500 million years ago, had many tentacles and I heard that in her younger years she also gave many sailors nightmares.

  It wasn’t until the 1700’s that the kraken started to be viewed as squid/octopus like, some stories have it as crab like and the size of an island

  As someone who has seen a giant squid in real life (sadly not alive), you can really see just how big they are, and how dangerous they can be to a human. I also once got a close up view of a (once again sadly dead) baby colossal squid’s suckers, and they have these terrifying hooks in them, and you really do see how deadly they are.

  creepy story for anyone interested<br><br>my grandpa once told me about one of the weirder things that happened when he had spent time in a submarine.<br>Apparently the submarine was a good bit under the ocean, and was just moving along when they’d suddenly taken damage on some expensive piece of equipment on the exterior of the submarine. I don’t remember exactly what it was, but I do remember my grandpa saying how there were considerably large beak marks left on the damaged equipment.<br><br>This story really stuck with me since i’ve always been obsessed but also terrified of whatever is out in the deep waters
