  I was visiting Ethiopia in 1999 and met a 20 year old young man who lived in a hut made of sticks and mud. He had never seen a TV before and never heard a radio.  He told me his favorite music was Michael. I asked, Michael Jackson? And he said yes. As we spoke, it turned out he had never heard any of MJs music but that he wanted to hear it one day.

  I was 17 in 1984 when I went with older friends (6 hours and two states away) to Jacksonville, Florida to see the Jacksons' Victory Tour.  It was an amazing show and Michael was absolutely incredible...

  He is the definition of aura! I’m a couple of weeks shy of 43 and the way he caught my attention at 10 with his videos, i can still watch him now with that same feeling, despite watching everything dozens of times over the years! Could i sit and watch another artists performance repeatedly and still get that excitement, absolutely not. Whatever his secret was, no one has discovered it and even 17 yrs post death, he still captivates around the globe. He’s got fans that aren’t even born yet.

  It’s interesting how he kept showing up to save entertainment industries: 1980s showed up to save the music business, saved mtv and created music video art form, saved the superbowl halftime.

  Younger generations today are finally beginning to understand the impact Michael Jackson had on the world in the ’80s and ’90s. It’s almost impossible to explain how incredibly loved he was worldwide — and now, decades later, he is still reaching and inspiring a whole new generation. ❤️
