Python type annotations aren't only for type checkers. They can be stored as part of an object and can even contain arbitrary objects. Libraries like Pydantic and FastAPI rely on type hints and introspection. Protocol subtypes can be used to check that an object implements specific behavior at runtime instead of checking if an object is an instance/subclass of a specific type.

This stuff is great. I hope you do more of this kind of content for different languages.<br>I find myself wanting to branch out more to learn other programming languages, but a lot of the learning material assumes no prior knowledge. For example, I don't need to know what an integer is, I need to know how this language implements it.

In your python Callable example it's possible to use another type alias to name the parameters :) Yeah it's not inline, but it helps me!

Arjan, don't worry. You can (almost) completely go without the dreaded semi-colons in Typescript code. Can you do this video but as a Typescript programmer that needs to get better with Python.
