  Things like this really makes you wonder if there might be something under the thick ice on Enceladus, Europa and other various moons and perhaps even Titan.

  We are seeing this in iceland- Once scoured by glaciers, less "overburden" is contributing to magmatic inflow, as the island "rebounds" and recovers from its own once massive ice sheets.

  I was fortunate enough to get helicopter and C130 rides over the continent when  I worked there.  It is like being on anther planet. I got  helicopter rides a number of times around Mt Eribus, the active volcano near McMurdo station.  I was on my way to Cape Crozier to shut down the penguin rockery station. I learned so much from supporting and eating meals with the best scientist in the world studying and doing research on so many different things. This was a great program!

  Not only bacteria, also shrimp were found under the ice sheet.

  I love PBS Terra!!! It's always such fascinating videos!!  I did remember about the lake that the Soviets found while drilling under Antarctica, but I had no idea that there were also volcanoes or that there were lakes underneath the ice sheet!! Now we just have to make sure that the West Antarctic ice sheet doesn't melt and put us all underwater!

  It wasn&apos;t mentioned in this video, but the conditions in subglacial lakes are believed to be very similar to subsurface oceans on the ice moons like Europa.<br><br>If/when we eventually send a lander and submarine drone to these moons, we&apos;ll first test them in Antarctic subglacial lakes.
