  I know it's fictitious, but imagine being alive for over 10 centuries and continually losing the ones you care about. The fact that he is able to continue giving everything over and over whilst becoming more and more broken is just exceptional. Especially considering he retains all those memories with every regeneration, that is the epitome of unparalleled strength

  Number one rule of the Doctor. He always lies. Doctor Who shows why immortality is a curse, not a gift. He hates endings because he knows he will never see his. I know about Trenzalore but even with that he knows his end will not be happening before eventual madness and loneliness will be eternally etched into his soul. The Sadness of the Doctor, as I watch the show for decades, it’s the one thing that freezes my soul and aches my heart about him. Happiness will always eventually eludes him.

  I think the saddest things about his companions as a whole isn’t that some die in horrific ways but that so many of them seem to always say something akin to “I won’t leave you” something the Doctor always knows isn’t true<br><br><br>Also the fucking gall of the writers to have one of his companions say “you aren’t the only person to have lost something” to one of the one people in the entire universe that can universally say they have lost the most

  This is by far the saddest Doctor Who edit I have found. This is amazing and emotional, and beautiful.

  Rose was probably the saddest loss as they both actually loved each other and they were forcibly separated. Donna loved him but didn&apos;t push beyond being his unwavering friend. But they all take a piece of his heart when they&apos;re gone... and that hurts him more than any Dalek or other being ever could.

  I love how in the end Rose and Donna were the only companions that in fact did not choose to leave him.They were there until the end and both have a Doctor by their side now.
