  I remember years ago as a young adult I was talking to my stepmom’s daddy.  We were having a great religious discussion and I mentioned the pre-existence…..he had no idea what I was talking about.  It was the first time I knew not everyone has this knowledge.  I was truly stunned at the time.

  Dr. Allred was Brother Allred to me in my HS seminary class, and later, a religious professor of mine at BYUI. He taught me more about likening the scriptures to myself and actively using them to hear the voice of the Lord in my life than probably anyone. I am grateful for the ways he has impacted my journey. I'm enjoying learning from him again this week.  Thank you 😊

  Yes, God creating this earth and us on it, without understanding the pre-mortal life, would just be cruel. The fact that so many still have such a steadfast faith in the Lord without understanding or believing in this truth is amazing to me and for sure a testament to the truth about us as eternal beings, even if the don't know and understand it.

  I love the analogy of mortality being a personalized training program designed for our individual maximum growth opportunity. Just like working with a personal trainer, we agreed to that program.  Combining that with Boyd K Packer’s 4 T’s in Act 2, I understand that all of my tests, trials, temptations, and tragedies are designed for my maximum growth if I use my agency to take actions to faithfully walk the covenant path.  I have had personal trainers at the gym who ask me to do things that seems impossible… hanging knee lifts, female at age 68 … but eventually I could do them.

  Grandfather quoted Benjamin Franklin, “Experience is a dear teacher, but fools will learn in no other.” <br>Love the presentation so deep and fulfilling.<br>Brother Allred has great depth.

  When brother Allred said the testimony he obtained when reading the Book of Mormon was better than seeing a vision, that’s exactly how I feel about the obtaining of my own testimony. I used to think I wanted to see a vision until I received a revelation from the Holy Ghost and I understood I didn’t need a vision.

  Finally, first time I&apos;ve heard anyone in the LDS church talk about whether we would actually want to live with some of our family eternally or not and to try and act like we would want to. 🤔

  Wonderful, deep and moving discussion. I joined the church in my early twenties. The doctrine of the pre-existence was profound and deep for me. I had never heard such a thing before. I found myself looking at babies with deep reverence thinking about where they had been.

  * John and Hank - The subject in the last several minutes of this podcast reminds me that, because of a guest you had last year, I read a talk by Francine Bennion from a BYU women’s conference from the book &quot;At The Pulpit&quot;. She said, “We’re here not just because God decided it would be a good idea and made it happen, not just because Adam and Eve fell and we automatically followed, but because we chose to come…Our birth is evidence of courage and faith, not helplessness, shame and disobedience.” I was talking to my daughter about this quote and she said that knowing this sure makes our birthdays something to celebrate and very special! If we ever doubt what type of people we are, we can know we were, and are, COURAGEOUS and FAITHFUL! 👑👑👑 <br>* A thought along the lines of the suffering and unfairness of life, I lean on, and trust in, this quote by Joseph Smith, “All your losses will be made up to you in the resurrection, provided you continue faithful. By the vision of the Almighty I have seen it,” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, sel. Joseph Fielding Smith (1976), 296).

  John, you give me belly laughs, in the middle of the night, while most are asleep but I&apos;m up watching Follow Him. &nbsp;That accent was awesome! 😅
