'พลพีร์' แจงดรามา สั่งปิดประตูน้ำเขื่อนขุนด่านปราการชล

Deputy Interior Minister Polpeer Suwannachavi clarified the controversy surrounding his order to close the Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam floodgates, stating that although he doesn't have an engineering degree or water management expertise, he's not stupid enough to give such an order. He emphasized that the closure was only temporary, aimed at slowing the water flow and alleviating the suffering of the public. "I never said to close it permanently, or to close it until the water dried up. Even though I don't have an engineering or water management background, no one is stupid enough to cause a dam to break." Mr. Polpeer Suwannachavi, Deputy Interior Minister, gave an interview on the "Karmakorn News Talk Off-Screen" program regarding the controversy surrounding the closure of the Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam in Nakhon Nayok Province. He explained that after the meeting yesterday, he went to the dam to inquire about the water level. He received a report of approximately 96% capacity, and on the day the water was first released, it was approximately 100.78%. He then asked how much higher the water level would be for the public if the water was released at that rate. He was told this in return, and he then asked about the amount of rainfall expected from Khao Yai. "How much water was released? The dam director informed me that, compared to the day before my visit, only about 20% of the water was flowing from the dam's banks. “I asked if we could reduce the amount of water we release from the dam. That was the only point. The director reported that we could shut it off for 1-2 hours and then release water in a quantity that would prevent the water level in people's homes from rising. I didn't order a complete shutdown. Even though I'm not an engineer or a water management expert, I'm not stupid enough to shut off the dam and cause it to break, resulting in such a massive flood. That's the only point: how can we slow down the water flow that would add to the existing water supply and cause hardship for the people?” the Deputy Minister of Interior said... He continued, “The dam director said we could shut it off for a maximum of 2 hours, and then alternate between shutting it on and off to prevent water from increasing in community areas. That day, there was little water flowing in. I asked the director if we could slow it down, if we could temporarily shut it off. That's all. He didn't shut it off in front of me. He said they have to maintain the dam's balance. The dam is over 30 years old. If it holds more than 100% of its capacity, they don't want it to be damaged. I agreed with that. We all know what would happen if it were damaged.” The public suffered a lot of damage, and I didn't order a permanent closure. #OffScreenTalk #SorayuthSuthatsanachinda #MorningNews #FamilyNews3 #NewsWorkersOffScreenTalk #PoliticalNews #Politics #Government #Songsak #Anutin #Blue #BhumjaithaiParty #MinistryofInterior #Rain #HeavyRain #Flooding #MeteorologicalDepartment #MeteorologicalDepartment #DepartmentofIrrigation #Bangkok #BangkokMetropolitanAdministration #Polpeer #KhunDanPrachonChonDam #Irrigation #NakhonNayok
