  Greek here. You nailed it. The salaries here are not bad in tech  ,but the taxes are ridiculous... thats the problem

  Hi, thank you for your video and for sharing your opinions. I&apos;m Italian and i&apos;ve been living and working as a software engineer in Germany for the last 2 years. I think you should have put Italy in D and Germany in A, but also B fits since it&apos;s not the same country as some years ago. <br>Italian cost of living is way higher than it seems, Milan is one of the most expensive cities in Europe (more expensive than Hamburg, which is one of the most expensive in Germany). In my area (Modena/Bologna), the cost of living is more or less the same of where i&apos;m living now (Lübeck), but salaries are less than a half of the german ones. On top of that, the area where the salaries are the highest (Pianura Padana) has one of the worst weather and climate conditions in Europe, since all the pollution gets stuck between the Alps and the Apennines

  I think this reflects my own research and experience except for Portugal, salaries in Portugal are really really low and the cost of living is very high, taxes high, I would put Portugal in the same tier as Greece for dev jobs. Something else you didn&apos;t discuss is the work life balance for example in the UK this is high, no overtime really needed, good enough amount of holidays, if you need to leave earlier to pick the children up and finish work later is generally acceptable also. In Italy in contrast I know overtime is common, requesting time off work is a very rigid process and flexibility is low in general.
