  I think an important thing to note is the fact that it says some blades can become a "Master Sword," implying that's a title bestowed on blades that possess extraordinary power. I think the implication however though, is that there is only one true "Master Sword," otherwise known as "The Blade of Evil's Bane" or "Taima no Tsurugi" in Japanese. It is the only blade to possess the power to exterminate evil forces and truly destroy demons. All other blades can "repel" or "seal" demons or demonic energy, but only the true Master Sword can eradicate them entirely.

  I like to imagine that the &quot;True Master Sword&quot; housing Fi is lost to time and rediscovered occasionally, like in BotW.<br>In between those times, when the location of the goddess&apos;s sacred blade has been lost to mortal men, either the goddess guides the hero to it, like in Twilight Princess, or a mortal blacksmith is gifted the divine inspiration to craft a flawless White Blade, so that a temporary replacement can be imbued with sacred power from sources available to the hero.<br>Eventually these &quot;Master Sword&quot; replicas are laid to rest in the Lost Woods, as is tradition, which is why we find so many &quot;fake Master Swords&quot; in the woods when searching for it.<br>They aren&apos;t random swords, they&apos;re the previous White Blades that have lost their temporary power over the ages, and protect the &quot;True Master Sword&quot; by giving would-be thieves and false heros something unimportant to steal.<br>In theory, every one of the swords we find there is the weapon of a now-forgotten hero who vanquished evil.

  &quot;Master Sword&quot; being a category instead of a name would align with medieval naming conventions quite well, it&apos;s a descriptive name to tell you what it is.<br><br>&quot;White Sword&quot; could imply a &quot;Holy Sword&quot;, which is effective against demons and monsters, while &quot;Master Sword&quot; as in &quot;Master of all Swords&quot; is the most powerful relic that outright destroys all evil.<br><br>However, it would still make sense in the lore that there is only one &quot;True Master Sword&quot;, created by the gods themselves. This being the one that appears in Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom.

  I like this, I always noted how the &quot;Master Sword&quot; created in Skyward Sword isn&apos;t the final design we all know, after the third Sacred Flame. Instead that design appears when imbued by Hylia&apos;s divine power

  personally i like the idea of human recreations of the master sword because it makes the hylian shield work better the true hylian shield is indestructible given by a sky dragon to the first link and most incarnations after that are copies with high durability. same with the forging of link to the pasts master sword making it the golden sword

  Considering at the end of the timeline, only one blade remains, the other master swords not made by the gods, naturally decayed back into normal blades, or rusted away into dust once the people or powers that enhanced them faded

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jq2QY6CPUSs&amp;t=490">8:10</a> it IS worth noting that you can see the symbols of the sages from Ocarina of Time in the roof of the sealed temple in Skyward Sword, meaning that the sages as we know them did date back to the era of the Goddess Hylia. I believe it was BanditGames (tho I could be wrong, don’t quote me on that) that pointed it out, and also made the theory that it could have been the Sages that forged the Goddess Sword for Hylia despite Link forging the blade into the unawakened Master Sword, and then Hylia blessing the sword to awaken its full strength, thus potentially making Twilight Princess’ statement true… from a certain point of view.
