still something wrong with that wee motor , it should start first or second tug . what i would do next is get a valve cleaner that you can spray via sparkplug hole , i think the input valve in the head is so dirty its not letting the fuel in properly .

Would the crap in the carb be from the oil in the cap of the fuel tank 🤔

Loved that video Jack! I’m in the process of changing my carb too. Got a cheap knock off one similar to the one you got. I need to swap the top flap thingy. The thing that turned which had a smaller hole in it than the original. So, how did you manage to swap them? How easy was it to pull out/remove it? <br>And I was thinking I could maybe use the bottom part of the carb, the bowl/dish bit and just swap them? Mine drips fuel so was thinking it might be a gasket? I’m hoping that could work first? I’ll let you know.

Nice video, I wish I could find one like that for free. Looks like you learnt the same lesson as me those Chinese carburettors are a waste of time. I bought one out of curiosity but never got anywhere with it. Not sure your video showed it but there are two very, very fine holes in the carb body that you need to check for blockages and also the small jet at the side gets blocked. I have always tried to refurbish the original Tecumseh carb where ever possible using ultrasonic cleaning. If too far gone, I have found reasonable replacements on the famous auction web site, after checking them myself. I am sure you know that if the carburettor is correct those engines will start, first pull every time 99.9% of starting problems is caused by the carburettor, why most people seem to abandon them. Interestingly I have never had to put my foot on the mower to start it. Interesting video all the same.

Just out of interest what base setting did you end up with for the carb?

At the point of watching the exciting contents of the fuel bowl, and I note it had a brass float, any possibility the old brass float had holes in and someone tried to seal it with something?

Hi , I have a qualcast 43S Classic. The height adjustment front roller works but when i Have it on a high setting if I hit a bump it jumps down to scarifying setting and scalps the lawn. I can push the roller down to get back to the high cut setting. Any idea on a fix for this please ? Thanks
