  A dragon wearing a helmet. Beautiful. I also appreciate the serpent’s specialized head being molded with grooves that match the texture of the Rahkshi’s back. Makes it feel less out of place.

  The mix of building systems for the creatures was an awesome idea from the designers. It really adds a touch of fantasy or otherworldliness to them. It may have been from a more limited parts selection of the time, but thematically its genius

  With these sets being released in 2005 amid the major changes in Lego's business practices, part of me wonders if this theme was almost a response from the designers to prove the merit of the different branches of the Lego system and how well they could be integrated. Whether that's the case or not, this theme is certainly unique and I think almost every part of it has aged like a fine wine!

  I need to call my parents and tell them how great my childhood was. I didn’t realize some of these kits were that expensive.

  Always felt this line would have paired well with the later Orc and Dwarf Fantasy Castle sublines. Lego really nailed this line for how short lived it was.

  I remember I was REALLY dissapointed when this series ended so fast. The Wolf was one of the few builds I never destroyed since I was a kid. Now it's a mount of my Orc shaman <3

  They made a dual molded Tahu’s fire sword? Dude! That’s sick, what a great upgrade for THE most recognizable Bionicle character.

  That image on the back of the box... was something I didn't know I would see again. My world was never the same after that. Important childhood memory unlocked. Thanks man, I hope Lego revives this iconic theme.

  The viking boat in the second set you looked at (the one with the Wyvern) has an almost identical boat build to the one found in one of the hobbit lake town sets.

  Christmas of 2005 , I was a 5 year old boy, my mom went all out for my gifts that year. She got me both Viking Ship Challenges Midgard Serpent and Viking Fortress against Fafnir Dragon. My mom and I have ALWAYS been big into history and mythology, so I know she saw those sets and knew that I would play with them to their fullest capability. That Christmas was the best I have ever had. Money was tight for my mom, but now I realize how significant of a purchase that was for her. <br><br>I played with the sets for weeks, but eventually I did what I always did. I broke them apart and put them in the bits box. I damaged those parts in those sets HEAVILY. Chewing the dragons wings, damaging connection parts on the boat. I was a dumb kid, and now I’m kicking myself because these sets would have been Crown Jewels in my collection. I still have those parts, maybe I should salvage them and remake what I can. I’m gonna go thank my mom now.
