Science Minute: Few people know this, but Martin's headgear is the helmet of the Dutch armed forces, approved in 2019.

Have used the SRK-C for several years around the woods that surrounds my house. Simply put, it competes with others in the same price range and features well. Couple years ago I gave one to my adult nephew who carries it in his work as a lineman. That job is tough on knives, yet his compact SRK has held up quite well.

The normal SRK is my Knife i use for safaris in Africa. It holds up very well since 4 years of hard use.

Reading that this steel is more or less 1084, it probably has good edge retention. Maybe not compared to more recent super steels but still good enough. Impressed by this knife from this vid. 42 quid in the UK. Not even a bushcraft guy and I'm tempted...

I have this knife. I'm a smaller guy so this 5 inch version seemed just the right size for me. You've pretty much summed up the good and the bad about it. It's a low budget, no-bullshit, all round knife. Not a great feathersticker. Slightly too light for chopping. Doesn't hold an edge too well (the Secure-EX sheath doesn't help with that). But hey, for the price, I'll take it. It does have a flat saber grind, which is better compared to the full size SRK which has a hollow grind. The flat grind is what makes it slicey. Thought it will take more of a beating before breaking tho...
