  Welcome to rugby. A game for 15 players a side, with 8 replacements. 40 minutes a half with a 15 minute break in between. No time outs and the game only stops for infringements, ball off the playing area, scoring or major injuries. The idea is similar to NFL except there are no downs, the play is continuous and being tackled does not stop the play. Both teams can attempt to gain the ball off the opposition, within the laws (not rules) of the game. The ball can be passed, but only laterally or backwards, passing or knocking it forward results in a restart of the game (you need to watch a video). It can also be kicked forwards at any time. The main way of scoring is to touch the ball down over the try line (in goal). The ball must be touched onto the ground for it to count, if it isn’t it doesn’t count, this is called a ‘try’ because originally it gave them the chance to kick the ball over the posts and score a goal. Subsequently the try became more important, but there is still a kick afterwards (as per NFL) which is called the conversion. NFL gets the touchdown from here because the game evolved directly from rugby. Rugby is played by almost every nation in the world, including USA, and is a huge global sport. Also women’s rugby is becoming more and more competitive and popular. There is a World Cup like football every four years, the current men’s champions are South Africa and the women’s are England. You need to watch about the laws to be able to appreciate what is happening, but I hope this has helped. Best of luck👍.

  No pads and mostly no breaks after a tackle, the play just continues and the tackled player just gets up and gets on with the game

  you should also watch the ladies rugby also, they play the same rules as the men and hit just as hard.

  There are 2 versions of rugby. This one is &quot;Rugby Union&quot; which is like chess (but like a RTS / real time strategy game). It is tactical and constant / dynamic. Rugby Union is exciting because the main event is the world wide contests. Each nation has their own team (even the USA Eagles) and we all play.<br>&quot;Rugby League&quot; more resembles NFL. It is easier to understand and is more structured.. It is constant hit ups and clashes. This is considered a game more like &quot;checkers&quot; as opposed to chess.. Rugby Leage is mainly only played as a club sport (Like the NFL).

  There are several rules that were broken in this footage:<br>A high tackle (neck and head) or lifting a player and diving him head first &nbsp;(over the horizontal ) are grave offenses leading to a red card. Tackling a player in the air or a direct shoulder charge (without arms) are also illegal. There are other safety rules, such as not entering a maul from the side or prohibited &apos;crocodile rolls&apos;. After all, some players have to survive the game 😂.

  You are only allowed to tackle the ball carrier, if he/she is on the ground. New rules says you have to tackle under the shoulder line.<br>Why I say on the ground, when the ball carrier is running towards the try area. He/She often &quot;fly&quot; inside, that is to not be tackled entering the try area.
