  Johan from Monster deserves a honorable mention, because although he doesn&apos;t have super powers, he&apos;s a master manipulator and he was defeated because he wanted to be. He&apos;s so scary because he might as well be a real existing person

  It baffles me how people genuinely don’t understand that Muzan is SUPPOSED to be a cowardly excuse of a villain. Down to the core the parallels of Muzan are actually VERY well written. The whole point of the demons is for them to sort of act as a life lesson that your misdeeds will always catch up to you. This theme shows itself so much all throughout the anime. Muzan as a character was made to be a coward who makes other people do his work. He’s been like that since birth, while he was sick all he ever wanted to do was live no matter the cost. His recklessness and stupid actions aim to show who he is as a person. He is NOT meticulous but he puts on a FOREFRONT that he is. He pretends he’s tough when he isn’t at all. This is where his direct character parallel comes into play, Kaguya Ubuyashiki. Ubuyashiki is a sickly man who is blind but he is twice the smart calculating person than Muzan is. These themes are everywhere in Demon Slayer I just cant understand why so many people cannot figure it out. Anime watchers seem to have this fixated idea that all villains need to be either geniuses or evil while being fearless. That’s just unrealistic. This is why Muzan is one of my favorite anime villains of all time along side others like Johan and more. Muzan isn’t written to be terrifying he never was, he just made you THINK that. I love Muzan’s character because he subverts many villain tropes and gives us something new and fresh on top of that he is realistic to bad people irl. I’ve been telling people stop thinking that Muzan will be some badass villain because he aura farmed one walk, he’s doing that to distract you from the fact that he’s a coward. People just keep setting these expectations for him and getting mad when he turns out to be a scummy coward taking advantage of what he can. It’s like BRO you need to understand it with a clean slate, no preconceived notion of what a villain should look or act like.

  I think what’s great about Griffith is that you witness his fall from grace, unlike other villains. You grow to like him alongside Guts as their relationship grows throughout the story. And, because of that, his betrayal feels that much more visceral. It’s witnessing a villain origin story in realtime.

  Griffith had everything to be the good guy but he was so into his own roleplay of control that once things didn&apos;t went the way he wanted he just threw everything up to get back in control
