  we had a sink being eaten by mold, it was so disgusting and our faucet was caving in because of the mold, the sink was sinking into the counter; it was horrible. our landlords said “we are raising your rent if we fix it since it’ll make your apartment look more expensive”…….no? it’s basic living? our landlords are some of the scummiest i’ve heard of.

  my landlord purchases houses in town and lowers the rent far beyond normal rates, he is also a handyman who does work for cheap, love that guy

  Word of advice for the deposit: Mail a CERTIFIED (~$8 at the Post Office) letter to the management company stating you will not be renewing your lease with a move out date. Be sure to put a forwarding address for your deposit to be refunded. In most states, once that letter is received the Landlords have 30 days to return your deposit with an itemized receipt for any deductions they withhold from returning. In some cases, after 30 days, the landlord will then owe you DOUBLE your deposit. If they continue to ghost you, contact your state&apos;s DEPARTMENT OF BANKING. Be sure to have a copy of the receipt for your certified letter and a copy of the letter itself. The state will then reach out to the landlord/LLC for you. Continued failure usually results in them putting a lien on the property, which if the owners give a fuck, will scare them enough to just pay you. I had this happen to me, following these steps got me my money. <br><br>Hope this helps someone out there.

  Worst experience with a landlord I can recall is in my childhood - my parents had plans to purchase the house we were renting at the time, everything was agreed upon with the landlord. Apparently the landlord&apos;s fiancé demanded that they charge more for the house after everything had been agreed upon or their wedding would be off. My mom ended up needing an appendectomy sometime within this time span, and as she was on the couch after a week long stay in the hospital - the evil bastard came in and just dropped a stack of papers including the eviction notice directly on her stomach. Just absolutely cruel. My parents were unable to find a new home for us to move into in the area by the time the house had been sold, so we were essentially homeless for one summer. Siblings and I lived with grandparents for a few months while they couch surfed in friends&apos; homes (grateful for their generosity) searching for a hew house for us to move in to. Absolute mess. I hate landlords with a passion.
