  Napoleon is my “favorite“ historical figure because even though he did many things wrong and fucked up many things it is still fascinating to watch a random Corsican dude beating the shit out some of the most powerful nations in the world multiple times

  The reason the allies didn&apos;t execute Napoleon was that that would set a precedent that if you defeated a country in war you could execute their monarch which would obviously make a lot of monarchs and nobles very anxious. Back in those days royals rarely faced personal consequences to war they might lose territory, wealth or simple prestige but it would never be their wealth it would never be their own lands that were lost it would just be the dirty peasants who would foot the bill. Monarchs would usually be captured and ransomed back for a lot of money.
