  Bells Canyon? Also, yeah as a Washington born and bred man, don't go into the deep woods or go camping without a firearm. None of us know what's truly in there.

  Regarding Eric Lewis&apos;s disappearance on Rainier: When one is on a rope team crossing glaciers, one doesn&apos;t simply unclip from the rope to have a pee break, especially in severe weather - aka near white out conditions. &nbsp;The analysis of his disappearance from the climbing community (American &nbsp;Alpine Club) states: &quot;Weather conditions had a lot to do with this incident, but the most significant contributing factors will probably never be known. The climber who unclipped from his partners’ rope did so in very severe weather and for no known reason. Guesses included that he didn’t want to slow his group down, had to deal with some personal problem, or had a mental lapse due to fatigue, hypothermia, or some altitude related illness. All were mentioned as possible reasons for him leaving the rope. It is also unknown how long Mr. Lewis was able to survive before succumbing to the cold or a fall from which he could not have survived. The discovery of his pack and a small “snow cave” high on the Ingraham Glacier provide clues that Mr. Lewis did survive for some time after losing contact with his party.&quot; <br><br>Lewis had left for his climb with very little in his pack, presumably to go “fast and light”. As a result, Lewis had little to rely on when he separated from his team, especially given the weather conditions. He did not have a sleeping bag, tent, or any additional clothing beyond that which he had on his back.<br><br>Being inexperienced, carrying the bare minimum and absolutely no extra gear to impede hypothermia is extremely stupid in the mountains. I&apos;ve been on Rainier and the mountain creates it&apos;s own weather. One minute it&apos;s sunny and warm, the next cold and snowy. I have been in a white on Rainier and it&apos;s absolutely terrifying. The idea Eric had hypothermia is completely plausible. Hypothermia will cause what I call the mumbles, stumbles, and jumbles. People become disoriented, can&apos;t speak, slur their words, some even take off all their clothing because they are &quot;too hot.&quot; Unfortunately not being hydrated, or fit enough for the energy expense that comes with climbing Rainier ie causing someone to sweat so badly that one becomes drenched, can cause hypothermia. His pack was found in an ice cave but not his body. He likely became disoriented caused by hypothermia, which caused him to unbuckle from the rope in the first place. Top that off with a major storm, that caused the rescue operation to end on the 3rd day, my guess is that he likely fell into a crevasse.

  Bells canyon. As a local who visited Mount Rainer &amp; Mount saint Helen&apos;s. I&apos;m not surprised that there may or may not be &nbsp;feral person / serial killer out there...

  I was hiking and picking a variety of edible mushrooms on Mt. Ranier and I stumbled upon a&quot;camp&quot; that someone was currently living in. &nbsp;I could tell they had been there quite a while and weren&apos;t planning on leaving any time soon. &nbsp;I quietly backed out of there after carefully surveying the camp for anything alarming.

  I live in Tampa but I grew up near Seattle and I spent some time on Rainier. &nbsp;I’ve done solo camping in the state tho not on this mountain. &nbsp;You’ve not experienced silence and darkness until you are alone overnight with just your imagination in an old growth forest. &nbsp;Thanks for the trip down memory lane, I love the palms, but I miss the pines. &nbsp;And no, I’ve never heard of Bell’s Canyon either.

  I’m a solo female hiker and camper. &nbsp;My favorite camping item is a 9mm. &nbsp;I’m not playing. No way I’m going out into the unknown unarmed. &nbsp;be.

  In my country we used to believe that there is an herb that if you step on it, you can be around your house but you will be lost, not knowing where is your house...<br>But that is because for some time that you miss and you don&apos;t recognize anything but when you get out of that trance, you are outside your house or in the nearest road... that happened to my wife when she was a kid. I have soany stories

  Seattle is much scarier than Mt. Rainier. &nbsp;12th &amp; Jackson is absolutely terrifying. &nbsp;I&apos;ll take Mt. Rainier any day. I&apos;d rather deal with Bigfoot or the Bell&apos;s Canyon Weirdo than a whacked out fentanyl junkie. 🥺
