  We really need a like choose your own adventure for Star wars. Like you pick which additions you want and you get a cut of the movie with only those changes.

  The problem with the Special Editions is that the good changes are often more subdued. Improved explosions, fixed lightsaber colors, stuff like that while the bad changes are REALLY screaming in your face (literally with the Jedi Rocks part)

  The new Palpatine scene actually adds a bit of interesting interplay between characters. Despite what people seem to think, this isn’t the first time Vader learns that the Death Star pilot is his son. He knows this at the start of the movie (the crawl implies he’s obsessed with finding “Young Skywalker”), hence why he’s so hellbent on tracking down the Rebels. He even says when Admiral Ozzel tries to dissuade him from going to Hoth “That is the system. And I’m sure Skywalker is with them.” He already knew Luke’s last name before he had the call with the Emperor.<br><br>I’ve seen people say this was a mistake that was made, or try to justify it by saying that there were totally a ton of people just running around named Skywalker and that Vader didn’t know it was specifically his son until the chat with Palps. I seriously doubt that Lucas intended for Skywalker to be a galaxy-wide common last name, and I don’t buy for a second that Darth Vader would think this was just a coincidence given the kid was hanging out with Obi-Wan Kenobi and per Vader’s own assessment was strong in the Force.<br><br>But even if the new dialogue was an unintentional screwup, I think it creates an interesting new element to the story. Now with the new scene, Vader is lying to the Emperor. He’s playing dumb, pretending he doesn’t know who Luke is all while he plots to turn his son to the Dark Side and team up to destroy his master, who he definitely now suspects lied to him about his wife’s death and the fate of his child. But now his scheme is at risk of being found out, so he acts like he has no clue his son survived and then floats the idea to Sidious that they should turn him. Of course, I’m sure Palpatine is also aware of Vader’s scheming and is already planning to dispose of him.

  I would put the sparks on Jango Fett&apos;s jetpack in B-tier due to clarity. I remember some people used to ask why Jango Fett didn&apos;t just fly away from Mace Windu before his head got chopped off, so the added sparks help signify to the audience that Jango couldn&apos;t just fly away because his jetpack was broken

  I also agree that we&apos;d never get a remake of Hayden Christensen at the end of episode 6, but I think it&apos;d be really cool, not only because he looks like he&apos;s in his 40s (probably cause he is), but also because Hayden didn&apos;t know he was being filmed for the end of the OT, and getting a new version would allow him to act happy like the other ghosts around him

  I remember when the victory celebration was changed. My father and mother who watched it in the 1980s thought it was the greatest thing ever because they remember radio stations in the &apos;80s constantly playing what they called the ewok song over and over and over. &nbsp;I saw a tear in my dad&apos;s eye

  What’s kind of funny is just how evenly split these are between “I guess it’s a little better” to “wow that was a fantastic improvement” to “George what are you smoking?” It goes to show that like most ambitious geniuses George Lucas was both truly brilliant and had no idea when he wasn’t.

  I think the Anakin ghost is meant to represent his force ghost as his life the last time he was a good guy, so his Jedi force ghost represents the last time he was good, the last time “anakin” was alive. If you want to complain about his appearance then complain about how Anakin was able to have a force ghost in the first place
