  Wyatt Earp’s own testimony makes this part of Tombstone history especially interesting. Hearing his account of Ike Clanton and the Cowboys adds a different perspective to a story that has been retold so many times. Great topic! 🤠

  Hearing Wyatt Earp’s own words brings the Wild West to life in a whole new way. The tension between the Earps and the Cowboys was intense — no wonder Tombstone became legendary. This was like stepping into history

  Very accurate. However I have never seen John Wayne use a low buscadero fast draw holster. His pistols always were in holsters that the belt was routed through a loop on the back of the holster. His pistols always were at gun belt level.

  What is amazing about Wyatt Earp, during his frontier and regular life, is that he was involved in many violent situations and gun fights but he never got shot. His clothes got shot but his body did not.

  I remember the Star Trek episode when aliens reenacted the Gunfight at the OK Corral. Captain Kirk Spock and other USS Enterprise members were the Clanton/Mcclaury gang.

  A decade after the imfamous gun fight, yet another reporter approached a local farmer and asked him what he thought about the shoot-out.<br><br>Fatigued by the never-ending attention the event got, the farmer answered, &quot;Look, pulling up a town to look at its roots, don&apos;t help it grow none.&quot;<br><br>I suspect we today (and Mr. Earp then) make a much bigger deal out of it than it actually was to the town at the time. <br><br>But we do love our legends.

  I read this testimony 50 years ago when I lived in Az. doing research on my Great-grandfather Theodore H. Harris who discovered<br>silver in nearby Globe. Arizona was so thinly populated, I knew he had to have some contact with the Earps or the Clantons. At the<br>time of the O.K. Corral he was in S.F. losing his fortune due to a stock market crash.<br> &nbsp; &nbsp; Wyatt shows he was articulate for his time and location. Harris was described as an &apos;educated Easterner&apos; although he only had<br>a high school education. I have Theodore&apos;s letters to his first wife who still lived in S.F. In 1882, Harris went back to Az. to either<br>to strike it rich again or to become a rancher. About 5 years ago, I traced the name of Spence, which turned out to be the same<br>Spence linked to the Clantons. Spence&apos;s Mexican/Indian wife claimed he assassinated Morgan Earp. This testimony showed<br>there was bad blood between them. The law at that time wouldn&apos;t recognize in court her testimony because of race. He<br>escaped the vendetta by living near my Great-grandfather in Globe. In the 1880 Arizona (not Federal) census, it shows<br>Mattie Blaylock living near the ranch of David Devore, Globe&apos;s Mayor, which was adjacent to Harris&apos; ranch. In the 1890&apos;s<br>Warren Earp was killed while riding shotgun on the Globe to Bisbee stagecoach. <br> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;I don&apos;t know why Mattie appeared on the 1880 census, it may have been 1890. In any case, after the O.K. Corral, Mattie<br>lived and died in Globe.
