  There are bargains out there. We cruised Seattle to Sydney for $32 per night, that price was for everyone. World cruises can be good value too.

  Well all I can say is Australians get ripped off.  We did a repositioning cruise from Seattle to Sydney via Alaska, Japan and S E Asia. We paid $157🇺🇸 per day for our fare, ports/taxes plus gratuities. That didn’t include travel insurance, nor a drinks package. It did give us a balcony cabin because we thought that doing Alaska it would be worth it.  We didn’t get Alaska the cruise line cancelled it due to weather. I had wifi, there was no bad weather, either then or in then next few days. I think Alaska had closed down for the season, it was 14/9/2023 All I can say is they had 200 very ticked off Australians. We found out that many 🇺🇸 people were onboard for the casino and it was a freebie for them. We were given $100 per cabin for missing 7days in Alaska, more for the ports than anything, many people had used their long service leave to do the trip of the lifetime, which they didn’t get.  The Americans just said well $100, more for the casino. Yes we sailed the same amount of days, but Alaska was the big drawcard and we didn’t get it.  We found out from our cabin steward that they had known for 5 days that Alaska was not going to happen. Ratio was 9:1 American to others, mainly Australian.  We love cruising but this left a very sour taste in our mouths, especially when the majority of us had paid big money to cruise, plus a flight and travel insurance for America, when we were only there for 1 day.  To say we were unhappy is an understatement.

  I did my first transatlantic on the NCL Luna in March and it was FANTASTIC.  I cannot wait to do another one!   Loved the sea days to slow down and just do whatever with no rules.

  You mentioned picking a room with the "shady side of the ship" .... I do the opposite, since one of my biggest thrills in life is taking pictures of the sunrise/sunsets, so I've got numerous pictures of this (I wonder when "enough" will be "enough"! LOL  Also, like to go to breakfast early, so as to find the dining ventures most empty.  I do these transatlantics mainly to combine them with another from same port, making them "back to back", oftentimes on different cruise lines/ or cruise ships.  So, for example, I'll be doing a Cunard NY to Southampton, then a Celebrity Apex leaving Southampton to Miami (also, another transatlantic).  On another I did the NY to southampton Anthem of the Seas to Southampton, then the Cunard Queen Anne, the Southampton to Portugal, Canaries, etc....flying home back in Southampton.

  1. After 25 years of cruising, I enjoy Trans-Oceanic cruises. I also no longer cruise for less than 14 days. It isn&apos;t worth it for me to fly 10 or more hours from Las Vegas for a one-week trip. At least two weeks on the cruise, bookended by a week or more at each end, especially if the cruise is to (or within a train ride) from an area I have never been to, makes for a far more enjoyable cruise.<br>2. Repositioning from Europe to the U.S. (or the U.S. to Asia) is actually better for adjusting to the time zone when you get home. Going to Europe, those extra hours each night often total about 12 to 14 hours and destroy your circadian rhythm much more when you get home. <br>3. More and more, especially on discount carriers, flight costs are priced as two one-way flights. The concept of a cheaper round-trip flight fare is disappearing. I am a 100% disabled Veteran, with a broken back (and more) from a bad parachute jump while in the Army 45 years ago. When I flew to Africa, I didn&apos;t like the idea of a layover about halfway, both going and coming home. I took a three-day break in Germany on the way to Nairobi, Kenya, to visit a friend I met in Las Vegas. After a week in Kenya, I flew to one of my TOP Bucket List destinations: Cairo, Egypt. On the way home, I spent three days in Vienna. I had never visited Germany or Austria before, and the three-day airplane breaks really helped ease the pain in my back. The only cruise on this trip was a four-day river cruise on the Nile, with amazing stops along the way.
