  Burnt food, poor service in the restaurant, lazy interior design (i.e. small TV, mini fridge on the floor), battered furniture, all for £725 per night. Shocking!

  It really annoys me when you feel like you have to go up to the staff in the restaurant to remind them you're there and ask for the next course. How is that allowed to happen in a 5 star establishment!

  A 5 star hotel should have excellent furniture and facilities. Plus it should give a second to none dining experience.  This hotel obviously does not deserve that grade. I would have been very disappointed to have been given that tatty bedroom, and lack of service in the restaurant.  The price is certainly not deserved.  Shows how you need to do a lot of searching for photos of the rooms, and write ups of previous customers, as I always do, so you are not disappointed with your choice.  The person who graded it as a 5 star obviously has no idea what the public expect from a 5 star hotel.

  I took my mum there  for afternoon tea a few years ago, and there was a total lack of service. I had to go hunting for a member of staff to get us another cup of coffee which is supposed to be unlimited. We were the only ones there. I could understand your frustration at having to find a member of restaurant staff.

  Wow, this place is SO DATED. I can't believe the room is decorated like that...yes, I agree it looks it's from the '90s at least.

  It is nice to see an older hotel cared for and not falling apart. However, I would not pay that!
