桑田真澄氏　オイシックスのチーフ・ベースボール・オフィサー（CBO）就任会見　巨人退団から新天地「サイエンス・バランス・リスペクト」でチーム作り貢献へ【チャプター入り】

Masumi Kuwata, a former ace pitcher for the Giants who served as manager of the team's second team before leaving the team, attended a press conference to announce his appointment as Chief Baseball Officer (CBO) for Oisix, a team that will be participating in official second-team games. Kuwata said, "I wanted to take on a new challenge, which led me to sign this contract. I'll do my best, even if it's a small contribution." He originally planned to take the next year "to recharge, or take it easy." He explained that he had been planning to make wine and rice production and visit the US major leagues, but Oisix's enthusiastic recruitment efforts convinced him to "take on a new challenge." His specific role as CBO will involve overseeing the team, including management, players, and staff, and strengthening and developing the team's foundation and team composition. Oisix has been in the NPB farm league for two years. For now, his goal is to improve the team's performance and develop talented players. Kuwata said, "I would like to develop a team that can win in the long term by strengthening our players in the short and medium term." When asked about his coaching style, Kuwata began by saying, "It's been consistent since my playing days," and stated, "Science, balance, respect," and "I don't tell players to do it this way." He continued, "There's this idea in the baseball world that if you practice you'll get better... I don't know, it's like a lucky charm or something, but there's this (way of thinking)," and continued, "From a scientific perspective, practice, practice, practice doesn't make you better. You need to practice, get some nutrition, and sleep and rest. We live in an age where we already know that muscles regenerate and get stronger while we sleep, and that the brain and nerves memorize the techniques you practice."
