This was a fun little dip into Ravelry randomness — nothing too serious, just first impressions and some spirited commentary. Enjoy!

I'm sad that we live in a world where you constantly have to apologize for your opinions. They're your preferred knitting choices, not a judgment of the designers' worthiness as human beings. The world would be boring if everyone liked the same things. Thanks for another great video!

As a horticulturist whose “plant lover origin story” involved lady slipper orchids, it’s driving me nuts that neither of the orchids in that design are a lady slipper. They’re almost definitely phaelenopsis and dendrobium flowers, not paphiopetalum or cypripedium. I know that’s such a niche nitpick, and doesn’t actually matter to anybody else but I had to express it 😅

The Thea Colman sweater is pulling up like that because the cables weren't blocked evenly. You can see how different the shape of the cablework is at the bottom compared to the cables higher up - it's scrunched. There are loads of project pages and none that show the back have an issue. Kind of a weird misstep for her to make but even the best of us can rush a proper blocking! The good news is it seems to be perfectly fine.

This year, I knitted The Song Bird Mittens and the Dagmar Jacket. I specifically chose those two patterns as practice knitting for colour work and cable. I wouldn’t consider the Dagmar Jacket a cardigan because it’s suppose to be a “jacket”, and that’s the reason why the neck is rounded. I, personally, do not like rounded cardigan sweaters, but I wanted to wear this specifically during spring and fall weather. Anyway, these two patterns were easy to follow and I would actually knit both patterns again. The Dagmar Jacket was my very first Petiteknit pattern. I had such a positive experience knitting the Dagmar Jacket that I would probably knit another Petiteknit pattern in the near future.

I've knitted the Songbird Mittens 3 times and adapted the pattern for a pair of socks. all of Erica Hauser's patterns are works of art

What always makes it for me is that first glance photo. There are so many patterns out there that I rely on what I'm seeing in that first photo. I don't have time to open every pattern. So first glance is a big one for me. On these patterns here, I like them a lot, but I only liked them more after you opened their page so I could see the whole thing. Good advice for all of us posting photos.

I was settling in with my knitting project and as I watched your video I was shocked to see that your first random project was the exact one that I was knitting, the Bluebird Mittens! They are a gift for my bird loving daughter who lives in cold Washington. So far I have only completed one cuff but it is fun to knit and very pretty.

I kind of wish the number of projects or favorites were factored in to the “hot right now” factor. Because it’s interesting to see how much buzz it’s actually getting vs how on trend it is.

Oh gosh there are so many jaw droppingly beautiful stranded mitten patterns out there with the basic construction as the bird mittens. Erica Hauser has some others that are stunning.

46:14 you know what, never thought I would need a table runner. I don't. And I almost skipped past it. But sometimes I just want to knit for the heck of it. And this would be pretty on the table when it's not full of kids crafts...❤
