  This is a wonderful interview thank you Nate for hosting it. Listening to this podcast has given me tentacles that I never had before. I found this most interesting topic of the great simplification. I’m a simple man 71 retired and I’ve been flying solo since I was 30 years old. I take away from this podcast post traumatic growth really hit me with the life that I have lived since I was 30 years old. Making decisions back then was a voice that I was listening to inside of myself. I needed to immerse myself in nature, so I moved from a prairie province where there was practically no nature, other than the odd river and human planted trees to an island surrounded by water and old growth forests minutes from my door. This was the start of my spiritual journey living in Victoria, British Columbia Vancouver Island. <br>I had to quit drinking which I did when I was 34 years old and I just celebrated 37 years of sobriety. I had to do some very deep work on my coming to terms with my childhood and not have a father present because he had a father who also wasn’t present. I realized my growth came a little bit at a time when I started learning language and the meaning behind language, such as forgiveness, acceptance, gratitude, honesty, which goes hand-in-hand with truth, empathy and for me talking to the universe and getting answers by just living a good life and letting life happen to me through the people I met. The growth was abundant for 34 years on the island. I never loved a place where I lived before -with the exception of Victoria BC. <br>I moved back to a small city in the province which I was born and had to adjust as nature is not abundant here. People are different and in Alberta I really can’t connect with a conservative thinking background, as well the religious thinking dogma.<br> Also,the weather is so much more bleak here. However,reaching for a tool in my toolbox, which is acceptance and gratitude my mind is still clear and full of the growth that I’ve had in my life. My number one purpose living where I do is , being kind to my neighbours ,to people that I bump into shopping for groceries , or at the gas station. When I’m out walking I give that little smile and look into their face and feel a connection. There is compassion in the world doesn’t matter where you live. You just have to open yourself up to it, receiving it and giving it -to the animal world, and to the less fortunate, and to my neighbours. <br>My life is pretty simple today as I I’m just getting over cancer of the throat and tonsil area and realize that if I am lucky, I will see 80 but I realize also ,that my body is slowly shutting down. So I’ve had a wonderful life and the last chapter is going to be one of kindness and spirituality. This human beings life coming from a man that has a grade 9 education. Listening to you and your guest you’re both very well spoken ,educated, and you have the words of the English language at your fingertips. I understand everything you and your guests talk about and if I get stuck on a word, I just googled it and I understand that I was right about the meaning of the word that was in my head. I just had to confirm that I understood that word correctly. I guess that’s the left brain seeking evidence for me in my small turtle like life.❤<br>I’m so grateful I found this channel Nate you live in somewhere in Minnesota and me living in southern Alberta. There is a connection that is invisible but there.<br><br>Repeat, respect, truly,<br>🇨🇦🍁💙

  I managed to change my life (move to a rural area, start growing food, living a simpler life with minimal energy) but the reality is that I&apos;m becoming incapable of connecting with my old friends that even after visiting mt many times are still living in SEVERE COGNITIVE DISSONANCE. <br>So, as much as I want to help them, I&apos;m finding I don&apos;t even want to be around them anymore. :\

  This is sending me in a completely new path. I have been putting so much time and energy into preparing for retirement/playing catch up, so I won’t know financial hardship when I retire in 12 years. But this collapse conversation is brand new to me and I now have permission to stop focussing on surviving and thriving in a world that I thought was going to exist. &nbsp;Who do I want to be and how do I want to be, in a world I won’t recognise. <br>I will be reading Sarah’s book and playing catch up on Nate’s channel as a new subscriber.

  I was surprised in 3 ways by this superb conversation: (1) that Nate would invite such an out collapsitarian author onto his platform; (2) that he thereby thoroughly outed himself in this regard (an ongoing worldview shift in himself that he has been authentically and courageously sharing through the past many months); and (3) that his guest, Sarah Wilson, at timecode <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irXf-dvH8hw&amp;t=1460">24:20</a>, mentioned the name of my late husband, Michael Dowd, in association with the word &quot;hopium.&quot; That term actually arose convergently on several continents over the decades. Rather, the word most associated with Dowd&apos;s advocacy and platform is &quot;postdoom.&quot; Had he still been alive, he would have delighted in hosting Sarah Wilson in one of his postdoom conversations on youtube. And, Nate, despite your cold, you did a fine job in calling forth her experiential insights and her excellence in communication beyond the written word.

  As a healthcare worker one of the ways I am preparing is getting any procedures, screenings done along with really trying to take care of my body. I am also trying to learn as many home remedies as possible so I can help others. I see how fragile our healthcare system is.

  Great guest and conversation!. I&apos;m a hydrogeologist who spent over 40 years working at the the nexus of corporate economics vs. the biosphere. &nbsp;I recognized early in my career that trying to &quot;preserve&quot; the planet was a Sisyphian task (e.g., hopeless); so you might say I&apos;ve been a &quot;doomer&quot; since the late 70&apos;s. &nbsp;That said, I think the word &quot;collapse&quot; does not adequately describe the situation. &nbsp;Metacrisis is better, although &quot;metachange&quot; would be more accurate. &nbsp;I recently looked into the so-called &quot;collapse&quot; of the Mayan civilization and was fascinated by the plasticity and adaptability of the Mayan people that has been revealed by extensive study. &nbsp;They didn&apos;t &quot;collapse&quot;; they adapted and over a few hundred years went from cities of tens of thousands to villages or hudreds or dozens. The Mayans are still there raising the same crops that they worked when their ancestors built those pyramids. &nbsp;There is wisdom there that applies to humanity as a whole in these times. Nate: you might consider inviting a Mayan expert - could make for an interesting discussion.

You are both such giving humans and i hope you continue to be guiding examples for many others. To continue for over 1.5 hours was very kind given the cold that you were clearly suffering Nate!
