Every Finn has been on those cruises since they were kids. Itβs easy and affordable way to travel and have a little vacationβ¦or party.

This was the first cruise-ship with an inner courtyard. A prototype if you will. The concept is now very popular in various tropical cruises

Cruise ferries are large ships that mix the passenger amenities of a cruise ship with the vehicle transport and scheduled route capabilities of a traditional ferry. They carry cars, trucks, and foot passengers while offering cabins, restaurants, and entertainment.

There's a dinner buffet at evening too. Huge variety of food and alcohol drinks. If you enjoyed breakfast you would enjoy the buffet too.

Fun fact: The finnish guy who designed Silja Serenade is the currently hired by Royal Caribbean Cruiseline and is the mastermind behind their Oasis class cruise ships that took influence for the open air Boardwalk from Silja Serenade.

What I've noticed with many non-Nordic people when it comes to candy is that since you don't have the opportunity to explore a wide selection and all the different variations, you have that one texture and flavor that you're used to. And anything that isn't familiar is bad. In the Nordic countries, especially in Finland, there's an absolutely insane variety of candy. From what I've seen traveling the world, at least ten times more selection than in any non-Nordic country.

About salads. At home I usually eat mine with olive oil, lemon juice, salt & pepper. And if I eat out, usually there are two kinds of salads: those that are bigger and considered a full meal, and then the smaller side salads. The side salads often come without the dressing. Or the dressing might be somewhere near for you to grab it yourself, or there's flavored oil...

Most of the Finns has been on some ferry at least once in a lifetime. There is ferries from Turku (- Stockholm), Naantali (- KapellskΓ€r) and Vaasa (-UmeΓ₯) that goes to Sweden. Before joining in to the EU there were two more, but without tax free only that one from Vaasa stayed. And of course there is ferries to Estonia too, but is pretty short journey. I rather take cruises to Sweden.

Tourists should start with salmiakki vodka shots, not the candy. Chilled salmiakki vodka shot is a bold, efficient way to experience Finland's signature salty liquorice flavor.
