Body Safety for Kids | Private Parts, Safe Grown-Ups & Keep Telling | Mateo & Sofia

Teach your child important body safety skills with Mateo and Sofia in this gentle, age-appropriate episode of the Kind and Curious Kids Club. In this episode, Mateo and Sofia help young children learn three simple body-safety messages: Private parts are private. Know your safe grown-ups. Keep telling until someone helps. Children learn that the parts of their body covered by a swimsuit are private and that they can talk to a trusted grown-up if something makes them feel uncomfortable, confused, scared, or unsafe. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends teaching young children about private body parts, body boundaries, and identifying trusted adults they can turn to for help. In this video, kids learn: What “private parts” means That private parts are usually covered by a swimsuit That their body belongs to them How to identify safe and trusted grown-ups That they can talk to a parent, caregiver, teacher, or another trusted adult That it is always okay to tell when something feels wrong That they should keep telling if the first grown-up doesn't listen or help That they never have to keep a scary or uncomfortable secret “Keep Telling” Is an Important Safety Rule Mateo and Sofia teach children that if they tell a trusted grown-up about something that makes them feel unsafe and don't get the help they need, they should tell another safe grown-up and keep telling until someone helps. This is consistent with guidance from RAINN and the American Academy of Pediatrics, which emphasizes helping children identify multiple trusted adults and encouraging them to keep seeking help if their first disclosure isn't addressed. The episode uses simple language, repetition, and kid-friendly examples so children can practice these important safety concepts without frightening or overwhelming them. A Gentle Body Safety Conversation for Kids Body safety is an ongoing conversation. Parents and caregivers can use this video as a starting point for talking with children about body boundaries, personal safety, trusted adults, and speaking up. Children can also learn that they are allowed to say “no” to unwanted physical contact and that they can always come to a trusted adult with questions or concerns. This video is an educational resource and is not a substitute for individualized professional guidance. Practice the Three Body Safety Rules with Mateo & Sofia: Private parts are private.
