They did not have those “bear bags” back in 1978. Of course, I thought I was going with an experience backpacker. I learned fast when she brought a whole fresh melon. We were at the trailhead, just 150 years or so from the Canadian boarder. Thankfully we met up with some other experienced backpackers. There were grizzly tracks at our camp the next morning. That was back in the “dark ages”. We did hike with bells on our packs.

Great video! The scenery was just gorgeous. It looks like you’re having a really good time. <br><br>I noticed the frost on your sleeping bag and I couldn’t help but wonder if a canvas ground cloth swaddled over and under you would save you from getting frost on your sleeping bag. <br><br>I mentioned it because I saw a YouTube video a while back that showed cowboy camping and how a large canvas dropcloth was used to swaddle the cowboy over their wool blankets. It was sort of like a modern bivy sack.
