Use This Vaseline Trick to Stop Aphid & Scale Pests Organically

  G'day Everyone, I just wanted to quickly state that Vaseline is indeed "organic" and I disagree with the fake outrage (from a few people here and on fb) that the use of petroleum jelly in this way is somehow environmental vandalism. If I were to be particular, Vaseline itself is derived from crude oil which is formed from plants and animals so technically completely organic. Regardless, my main point is Vaseline used in this way has no detrimental effect on the environment nor does it contaminate food or harm animals, unlike pesticides! So with that in mind, it IS a good organic way to help control pests... and also treat cracked lips ;) Can I take the opportunity to also say, thanks everyone for your wonderful support over the past 12 months - the subscriber count alone has doubled and I have you guys to thank for that!   Hi Mark - I know this is a couple years old, but here&apos;s another aphid-killing tip that worked on my roses...throw your discarded banana peels on the ground below the effected plants (can probably use potassium carbonate powder as well). <br>Aphids hate the potassium. Did this last year when I had an infestation of aphids. Absolutely none this year. Cheers

  I saw another trick on another channel, where this family developed a borax/honey/water mixture in a jar, put a few holes in the lid (a yogurt container works too), then set the container/jar next to the plant with the aphids, and the ants climb in and don&apos;t come back out. So this is great if you have an area that&apos;s over run with ants.

  I had a tremendous learning experience using this method several years ago. If it&apos;s used in the shade, great, but if the spot you treated on the trunk gets lots of direct sun, it may kill the bark--and the tree. I lost a 25 year old dwarf Valencia Orange tree this way. Very sad.

  I have personally tried this vaseline trick about over a year now. <br>What I noticed is, the trunk where I applied the vaseline jell is shrinking instead of growing. <br>Some of my small plants is slowly dying. <br>Further more it killed my dragon fruit completely. <br>This is my personal experience. <br>I think the best method I found so far is wrapped the trunk with tape inside out as someone commented then I &nbsp;applied the Vaseline jell on the tape. <br>This way to Vaseline doesn&apos;t come in contact with the trunk.

  Cloves, ants don’t like cloves, they run from them, you could grind some up with a mortar &amp; pestle and soak the ground cloves in olive oil over night, strain through a single ply tissue and spray it around the base of &nbsp;your tree, or your pet food bowls to keep them pesky ants away, I used to have a real big ant problem in my kitchen, &nbsp;now I have a few whole cloves scattered around the bench tops, no more ants 🐜 not ever! 😆👍🏽

  Vaseline is also good for trapping a flea or two on your dog. &nbsp;They simply can’t move once you touch a dab of it on them.

  My hemlock trees were loaded with aphids and I thought they were doomed. But I also noticed we had a lot of humming birds and I just read that humming birds eat aphids. My hemlock trees are doing very well and are aphid free. A win win situation. &nbsp;Louisa
