My mother had been a fan of his since the 50’s.  When he wrote his first Biography, Postillion Struck by Lightning , she wrote to him via his agent to praise the book ( his books are wonderful).  A few weeks later a letter arrived postmarked Provence.  I remember her saying before she opened it” who do I know in France?”  Inside was a handwritten thank you letter from Mr Bogarde.  My mother died last year.  I have kept all of her Dirk Bogarde books. Tucked in side her copy of Postillion Struck by Lightning is the thank you letter, still in its envelope post marked Provence. What a lovely man to have taken the time to write to her.

This is the most relaxed Dirk Interview I have seen. He appears to be really enjoying himself. <br>Bogarde is one of my favourite actors with The Victim, Death in Venice and The Servant being my favourite performances by him. Not to forget, his fabulous writing. Intelligent, witty, a bit prickly, extremely private man and incredibly handsome indeed. Thank you for uploading this gem! 😊❤

I met a couple who worked for him and they said he was a wonderful human being.

Orson Welles made the same comment that Harry Cohn, head of Columbia studios had all the offices and every room bugged.
