When Gem discovers chiseling, it’s over. She will be hooked forever.

Gem, I can't wait for you to discover chiseling. I know it's still far away but with you being a builder you can't help but fall in love with chiseling. When you discover it, I hope you will have noticed that you can combine multiple blocks into a single block... it is not only chiseling a single block, but actually having multiple materials in that one block.

I have been waiting soooo long to see a hermitcrafter play vintage story. You, grian, and bdubs wouls do really well in this as far as your builds. It's right up your alley.

The #1 thing i would recommend to new players (especially coming from Minecraft), in world creation set your tool durability to 400%. This will allow you to focus more on figuring out the world and mechanics. The #2 thing i would suggest in world creation is setting your map to color acurate mode. Both these are found in the survival set up tab when you customize.

Watching the realization dawn on you while reading about the animal husbandry was *chef's kiss*. Love watching the depth of the game really sink in.

I'm glad that Gem knows to be careful with pit kilns. Early on I made an elaborate log cabin, built a pit kiln, logged off the server, and came back on the next morning to find my cabin had burned down 😭

Heard Etho talk about wanting to do a series on this during some livestream, maybe scars. So excited. Vintage Story is a natural evolution of the terrafirmacraft basemod and modpacks. So nostalgic.

    35:18
Supposedly the type of stone the sand/gravel originates from and even sand vs gravel only effects what rocks you get out of it. Bony Soil has a very different pool of loot, and one of the most valuable early on is candles.

Oh, this is neat. Great to see someone with a much larger audience than myself pick this game up and run with it! I wish you many happy hours wondering if you'll make it through winter, running from bears, and discovering the wonders of chiseling! Enjoy the ride; this is one of those games where your first time playing is something really special--the atmosphere, the danger, the wonder. Some of that never goes away, but the element of discovery makes way as you become a veteran. Good luck, and I'll be watching these for sure!

    A couple of suggestions:
1. Mark resources and ruins (the stones of the ruins, themselves are a resource) on your map.
2. If you see a ripe grain or vegetable, harvest it; otherwise, leave it alone until you're ready to farm -- but mark it on the map.
3. Do not settle in low-fertility soil areas -- you need at least medium fertility, especially in the first year, because you'll have a shorter time to get a farm started.
4. Rainfall needs to be at least, "Common" and "Very Common" is better; however, "All the Time" is a bit much.
5. Think tactically and defensively in this game, far more than most people do in Minecraft. Hilltops are better than flat spots for bases; open areas are better than forests, fences can save your life. The old concept of "Tower of Power" definitely applies.

OMG she finally played it!! I love seeing this game gain more and more traction over the years. This game has been close to my heart since it was just a mod for minecraft.
