We Hit An Asteroid On Purpose — And In November We Finally See What We Did

On 26 September 2022, a 580-kilogram spacecraft hit a 151-metre asteroid at 6.1 kilometres per second, eleven million kilometres from Earth. The orbit it was meant to shift by 73 seconds shifted by 33 minutes. In this video: the CubeSat that was the only witness; why two million pounds of debris pushed harder than the spacecraft; the 37 boulders Hubble found drifting away at walking pace; why the evidence points to a rubble pile reshaped like a watermelon, not a crater; and what Hera's radar will finally settle in November.
