I had Japanese beetle grubs throughout my lawn and flower garden, literally hundreds of grubs chomping away at my lawn and flowers. I ordered a batch of St Gabriel's milky spore from Amazon with the applicator and applied it to my problem. End of problem! This stuff really does the job and lasts for two years. The spore multiplies geometrically when it finds and inhabits a grub. Such great stuff.

I am trying the milky spore this year on my front lawn area. So far so good, but am only doing one application, not the 3 for 2 years as suggested. I think by far, the best way to get rid of your beetle problem is by using a pheromone trap. There is a product which I have purchased at Walmart and other garden centers that goes by the name RESCUE Japanese and Oriental Beetle Trap. It is simply an amazing way to get rid of these beetles without chemicals in the ground. When I and my husband first set ours up, we couldn't believe how the beetles came up out of the ground and swarmed the traps within minutes. My suggestion is to put them so that they are close to ground, but if you have skunks and critters that eat bugs, perhaps a bit higher. The handy zipper bottom allows you to collect the beetles for disposal, making the trap reusable. I move ours around to make best use of them. While this won't kill the grubs in the ground, it will eliminate the adult flying beetles which interrupts their reproduction cycle. We hope that the two methods, used in concert, will eliminate a vast majority of these pests. We have already seen a decline in the mole population, which loves to feast on the grubs and make tunnels all over the place. Good luck.

Move the wood mulch away from the stem of each plant up to it's drip line. It helps to keep the grubs at bay and from eating the roots of my plants. They love to live and eat right under the wood mulch because they like a lot of continuous moisture to live.

Chickens LOVE grubs. They will scratch them out of the soil. They also love grasshoppers. And broccoli and bok choi and cabbages and strawberries lol. I keep them fenced out of the things they will wipe out, but other than that they run through my garden eating bugs. Great garden buddies. Great pets. And eggs!

I'm in the process of amending my soil and every morning I come to find my dirt completely dug up ! At first I thought the skunks were going after the earthworms (which they may be) but today I took a closer look and saw a whole bunch of grubs all throughout the dirt! Thanks for the vid. I'm looking for a natural remedy quick before fall crops move in.

Those grubs make awesome bream & catfish bait. He likely introduced them via a cold compost pile, as they are most often found there. Screening your compost & picking them out goes a long way in controlling them also.

So ... I know how everyone feels about rodents ... but I wanted to offer up this info:
I have been caring for mice (it happened on accident found some orphaned mice and couldn't let them just die - all life being precious an all) and I've discovered some pretty amazing things about them the first thing I discovered is that they are amazing gardeners ... they take seeds crack them and bury them in soil that they themselves cultivate ..they move roots and plant seeds as close as they can ... then they tend to their saplings and the roots as the plants grow.. they also eat grubs and other insects ,... in fact insects are their primary food source... then fruit ..then vegetation..then seeds ..but mostly insects... voles moles and shrews love grubs also skunks and raccoons do too.. but they do a little more damage than the smaller critters. Some people will tell you mice will bring in the ticks.. and I would argue ticks feed on all wild life not just the mice and mice eat those too... so do guinea hens ... I think if we learn how to live with all the life in a symbiotic way we will all benefit
So if you find you have a grub problem ... and you're killing off the mice and other small rodents .. perhaps let them live for a bit and see if this takes care of it if the rodents become too overwhelming ... get a cat :-) <3

I've been tossing them in a bin to make compost for me. It was a bin I use to dump old potted plant soil in to mix with compost and other stuff to reuse it. But now I have to add greens and grass clippings and new stuff for them to eat because they turn everything into black gold pretty fast.
