  What an absolute gift it seems to be able not only to know exactly who your ancestors were, but to live in the same home, look at their portraits, read their diaries, walk the same halls and sleep in the same bedrooms where they have been for nearly one thousand years. I'm sure there are a lot of people who just wouldn't care, but to me it seems like a dream come true. What a beautiful home it is.

  Back in 1995, your parents went to church with the Anglican Catholic Church under Bishop Leslie Hamlett. I was a deacon in the parish and needed lodgings and a workshop for my organ building work. After a few months of living in two rooms at the back of the Hall and having use of the kitchen, they offered me Brook Cottage to rent at an affordable rate. My workshop was the last unit on the right after the arch. I left them in the autumn of 1996 with a lot of gratitude before returning to France. Thank you, and I haven't forgotten you.   I can't imagine how expensive to keep that Hall in mint condition today, the taxes must be enormous. But what an extraordinary and rare heritage.

  As an American whos country has barely been around 250 years, it blows my mind that someone's family can live in the same house for almost 1,000 years.

  These folks are a model of what humility, duty and true aristocratic nobility looks like.  It should be required learning for all youth who have the good fortune to grow up in such a place.  And it's every bit as grand and stately as the largest later period estates.

  Interesting property and story. My family has lived on the same land in Spain for over 500 years. Walking through a house where I had to duck down in the oldest doorways was an ethereal experience for me realizing that my ancestors walked through those same doorways centuries ago.
