I had a huge bin for each of my adult children. They were solidly full of their entire childhood’s art, writing, crafts, etc. I’ve moved them cross country for two decades. Guess what?! THEY DONT EVEN WANT TO LOOK THROUGH THEM! It means nothing to them! I finally dug through them today and threw away 99% of it all. Was it hard? You betcha. But my kids didn’t disappear, nor have my memories, once the giant black bags hit the trash cans! I kept one yellow envelope each and that’s a huge success. THANK YOU for the encouragement

One of the sayings that really helps me is to be a producer instead of a consumer. What am I producing? A garden, meals for my family, a creative outlet like art or writing, even production at work.

About a year ago, I kind of unexpectedly lost my eyesight if I hadn’t been to cluttering with your encouragement, it would’ve made life so much harder, but because we had become somewhat minimal and I had to cluttered it had made adjusting to losing my eyesight so much easier thank you Dawn

I rarely get a Starbucks/Caribou, etc but when I do a drop off at Goodwill I like to treat myself-helps to motivate me to get those donations out of my house/car!

Is clutter a cause or symptom? BOTH!! Clutter contributes to our anxiety. Then, the more stressed we are, the more our clutter accumulates. Definitely a “Catch 22” situation!! Thus, we need to be diligent and intentional with respect to decluttering! 😊

Dawn when I went through my divorce many years ago, one day I would be crying my eyes out and the next day I was euphoric. My best friend and I used to laugh about my changing emotions. It's so normal. Hugs.

On the book question - I have found that recently I can't really trust that our librarys will continue to have the quality and variety of books that are important to my family as homeschoolers.
Unfortunately, they seem to have decluttered their own shelves and no longer have what we're looking for.
It's worth it to me to store as many books on my shelves as we might need in this season of life.

You three ARE the dream team. Your up and down emotions are so very normal and yes, it takes much longer than you would like. Content is the place I got to and realized that was a great place to be.

So validating to hear I'm not the only one whose family can't find something and accuses me of decluttering it!!!! We should talk about that more often😂

I don’t agree with letting Kindle store your books instead of owning physical books. My kids need less screens, so any excuse to own physical books is preferred! Thus, I own a library of books and my kids read like crazy. Don’t be afraid to own too many books- it keeps my kids off screens.
