Thank you Lisa and Giles, another helpful video.
Appreciate your ship and port reviews, you cover so much that folk need to know ahead of travelling - food and drink onboard, availability of toilets ashore (not a glamorous topic but important) and loads more.
Looking forward to your next Travelling Light episode.

To make a walk into port a little more interesting we always research the local delicacies and drinks, then try to find and sample them in town. For example, we were lucky to visit Cherbourg on market day, so there was no shortage of crepes, cheese and breads to try, washed down by a smidge of Calvados in a bar overlooking the square.

The arrivals building that you walked through, used to be a fashionable liner terminus for ships like the Queen Mary. The museum was the railway station for first class travellers to catch the train to Paris for The Orient Express. I once spent a night exploring the liner terminus rather than sleeping in my parent’s car! Long story!

I love these vignettes (well it is France) of ports for people who like to wander around them. Last week we were cruising round Ireland (on Bolette) and stopped at some lovely places like Dun Laoghaire where we walked the long promenade there. Plus a 7 km country walk in Killybegs and a beautiful river walk in Galway. We also visited the Giants Causeway from Belfast.

We never got off when we visited on MSC, so it was great watching this vlog. I'm not sure I feel we missed anything. We preferred La Coruna to Vigo...but the shopping was good in Vigo. Great video...thanks for taking us with you guys ❤ xx

We arrived on a Sunday and did the Titanic museum which was virtually on the dockside. It was a few years ago but if it's still there it's worth a visit.

The cite de la mer is well worth a visit. We spent a good afternoon there one rainy Sunday.

Hi thanks for the port guide. Just to elaborate, that sea life centre you were in, right outside the port, well there is also a huge nuclear submarine, and museum, which you can even walk inside the submarine. Its called (La Cite De La Mer), and there is also the Titanic museum , which is also included in the price, as I did all 3, submarine, sea life, Titanic, and spend 3 hours in there and was only 2 mins from the ship.

Last memory of Cherbourg is 1992, with Debbie driving us back through the night and day as I was ill (and just desperate to get home). Missed it then (Cherbourg), and looks like I didn’t miss anything in particular ! Still, a useful port for Normandy and surrounding areas.

Hi guys. One for you about La Coruna. The fort is shut on a Monday. However I do enjoy the walk around the coast. On one occasion I did stretch myself as far as the tiled octopus.

A place we know better than we’d like to. Remind us to tell you that story. Nice to see it again …kind of…There is a Ciderie about 10 miles outside the town from memory. And St Vaast La Houghe is about 20 miles away. If you get enough port time both are good self explore options… But the cruise excursions are otherwise a good option we’d say. Great to see all these ports guys .. Thank you
