  I've honestly felt that Rob Hall had a big hand in the 1996 disaster and that no one wanted to talk ill about him becaue he hadn't made it out, and the way he acted towards Lydia here kind of validates my opinions on him. I'm sad we don't know Lydia's adventures as well as we should though, she sounds amazing

  Its interesting that in the end the two men that betrayed her ended up dying while she lived on but It&apos;s kind of disappointing that they went out before she could be vindicated. As time revealed the truth about her accomplishment would they double down on their lie or admit they were wrong and that their ego, ambition and misogyny led them to betray her? <br><br>In any case, she still won in the end. Long life, more success and eventually acknowledgement of her first accomplishment on Everest.

  Rob Hall is some sort of Everest legend for the fact he died on the Everest. &nbsp; The more you look into it , the more you realize how much of pos he is. &nbsp; This story just exemplifies it. &nbsp; The whole &apos;96 debacle was a lot to do with him as well and more blame should be put on his shoulders. &nbsp;But he died on the mountain and had a sad phone call with his pregnant wife so that makes him some sort of hero.

  Classic treatment for women who tried to break boundaries. I can’t imagine how much harder it was 40 years ago in a very patriarchal business as climbing. Great that you reivindica her

  I can&apos;t help but reflect on the fact that I&apos;ve read a fair number of mountaineering books, compilations of climbs and recounts of general history -- and I&apos;ve never seen her name, even in the context of &quot;here&apos;s a controversial story you might have missed&quot;. She was freaking erased.
