I grew about 5 from seed about 2 years ago and they have been in pots since. They have been absolutely fine so far. They will be going into the ground at some point in the near future so this is fab advice. Thank you.

I live in California and our soil IS clay soil. I have bottlebrush in my back yard that has been there for years. Once well established, it holds up to the fact I can't afford watering in the Summer and my gardener friend trims it back every spring. It sustains itself without dying. I thought you might like to know. In California when I plant plants, I put a couple handfuls of sand into the hole and spread it around to help the roots of any plant penetrate the soil, then the potting soil with it, and after planting I use transplant mix to help roots take also. If you have tougher soil in Britain, this is how you can get your bottlebrush to grow.

We get 100F temperatures for a good part of our Summer, and I never have to water them when they're established. The winter rains water them well and support the roots. I've lived in my house for 36 years, haven't watered them in 10, and they haven't died yet. Just thought you'd like to know.

Morning Simon. Really good video with loads of great information. My sister has a large one of these in her garden roughly 7 ft x 7 ft and it thrives there. She is no gardener , preferring to look at them rather than actually create them. It thrives on her neglect 😂

Well this going to add another narrative to the mix. Callistemon very often in the wild grow in seasonally flooded scrub land. Sometimes in areas where the roots are submerged for weeks or months. I grow my splendens at the base of a musa basjoo so receives copious amounts of water and feed in the growing season aimed at the banana then is over wintered with aforementioned banana, dry. Works for me. Flowers like a boss.

Great video, wish me luck I'm buying one from market place as the present owner is moving. It doesn't have flowers at the moment and is in a pot. I live near Dover so the winter should be ok .

Great family of plants. Noticed a few lovely specimens (citrinus) locally (North Wales) doing well. Cracking blooms but rather sort lived. Client has a rigidus all wonky and looking awful but healthy. I gave it a good seeing to and looks ok now. Flowering happily😊. Germinated some seeds and may forest the area!

I'm up in the North greater Manchester and have a winter beauty clematis and Jerusalem cherry plants that survive our winters, so hopefully the bottle brush will be cool too 😀
