Why so many people are suddenly interested in our history? The importance is, "We're out of many, one people!"<br>We're Arawaks, Spanish, British, African, Chinese, Indians, Jewish etc. This is why Africa doesn't own us as some are trying to believe. We're who we are! Period! 😂😅

There's still indigenous people in Jamaica. I am from Manchester area but father is from St Ann with indigenous back ground by his father side his half sisters are full indigenous I was surprised as a kid when he said that's his sisters my aunt's. St. Elizabeth is where my mother was from and she has some kind of European ancestry. On both mother and father sides is definitely African heritage from grandfather and grandmother. So out of many one people Jamaica.😊

Contrary to the perspective of this presenter, Jamaican history taught us that the Taino population became extinct during the period of the Spanish colonization. <br><br>Most Jamaicans actually credit their ancestral lineage to firstly the Africans, British and Jews...Additionally Indians, Chinese and Germans who came as indentured servants after slavery was abolished. There are remanants of all of these ethnics groups still present and integrated in Jamaican society today. While all we have of the Tainos are artefacts, words, and some place names.<br><br>Jamaican students are taught that the Tainoes are on the Coat of Arms to honour the original people group who first occupied our island.

Why that topic? We have never denied or hid our DNA. We know that majority of us are from west Africa, and we are proud of that.
