Backrooms isn't from a game, it's based off a found footage YouTube series Kane made inspired by a creepypasta on 4chan. Great vid!

The cardboard cutouts with the audio playing were used at bait to lure the creatures, the smoke cans were a trap they had set to capture pirate clark

my impression of the ending was that the backrooms were morphing based on Mary's psychology, and her current state of mind while being interrogated was roughly the moment where a still life of her was born in the backrooms as we saw at the very end
i don't think Async has any intention of ever letting her go, if you've ever seen any of Kane's work on his YouTube channel they're a company that operates completely free of external authority, including the government
they're fully willing to do things that disregard anybody's well being if it guarantees nobody else knows about what they're up to

I love your brain, the fact that your mind went to labyrinth is amazing. I could totally see that and it would of be so unique 😍

22:26 That scene in Labyrinth is actually based on the 1953 lithograph Relativity by M. C. Escher.

fantastic reaction! as someone had pointed out in the comments, while they did make a video game, the video game and this movie are built off of the director's youtube series where he took a creepy pasta image and expanded a whole lore and universe from it. while other horrors have done environmental horror before, this is the first movie where environmental horror was the main tool to drive the horror. its such a fascinating concept and this movie did an amazing job of depicing the mind bending environments that satisfies newcomers and long-time fans alike to the concept with brilliant performances. his analogy of describing a dog to someone who's never seen it and then asking them to draw it is such a simple yet elegant way to describe this place. thank you for sharing your experience with us!
