My wolfdog cut his paw and needed stitched up. He wouldn't let the vet touch him until I laid on the floor and howled with him. Twenty minutes of howling and he was all fixed up. LOL The entire office was laughing and people from neighboring offices came over to see what was going on. LOL

Retired veterinarian here. My toughest patients were elephants - their sense of smell/taste is next level.

My German Shepherd comes running when she hears the pill bottle shaking. I break a slices of American cheese up into 4-5 pieces and put the pill in one of them. I give her the first two with nothing in them and then the one with the pill and then quickly give her the last one or two pieces before she has time to spit out the pill. Now it’s just a routine because she knows she’s getting a pill but doesn’t care because she likes the cheese.

Pretending you didn’t mean to drop a treat for them to take a pill is the funniest animal rebellion I’ve ever ever witnessed lol

I had a little Bichon named Simon and he had Cushings disease and had to take a life saving pill every day. For years, there was no problem. He loved cream cheese so much, I’d just wrap it up in a ball of cream cheese and he’d excitedly wait for pill time and gobble it down. Then things changed dramatically as he got older and sadly lost his appetite. I tried everything to get that pill down him from shoving it gently down his throat-he’d gag it back up. Peanut butter before during and after-he’d devour the peanut better leaving the pill behind to wrapping it in cooked meat or bread and stand in the kitchen and accidentally’ drop it on the floor. Lickity split he’d be on it! I was so pleased something finally worked but after all his chewing, out came that stupid pill. Then my partner would have to help. Success but boy would Simon walk away from us grumpy and turn and give us the evil eye! Never lasted long. One, just one of the amazing things about dogs.

I had a beagle mix rescue. He was the champ for sucking anything off a pill and spitting the pill out.

I put my pup’s pills in crunchy peanut butter. When the whole bite has lots of yummy crunchies, the pills weren’t an easy anomaly to find.

But after he was diagnosed with cancer, the vet prescribed a soft diet; no more kibble, but he should have canned food or chicken and rice. After a few meals of chicken and rice, he decided he didn’t want the rice anymore. He would pick all the chicken out, lap up the broth, and the rice would be left behind 😂
