  Children experience anxiety, fear, a sense of loss, grief, and so on; not talking about these things does not protect them—on the contrary, it forces them to deal with them on their own.<br><br>Reading and watching Moomin together with your child makes it easier to open up about heavy themes and discuss things children see around them—and perhaps feel themselves—while also preparing the child for such emotions, as they will affect us all sooner or later.

  I grew up with stories from Astrid Lindgren (Sweden), Tove Jansson (Finland) and HC Andersen (Denmark) and all of them could be quite dark with heavy subjects.

  Moomin is a big part for many children in the Nordic countries. Tove Jansson and Astrid Lindgren were amazing.

  My favourite character growing up was &quot;Lilla My&quot; (translates to &quot;Little My&quot;) and she is the most sarcastic little sh*t ever. And hilarious. Basically as a kid I liked the Moomin stories because it didn&apos;t sugar coat things and in a way that makes it easier to trust in.

  Children&apos;s books and movies in the Nordic countries often contain more adult themes like death, loss, and sadness. The Nordic melancholy permeates everything.

  im icelandic and i grew up with moomin :D we collect the cups :D plus we got sued because we made a moomin village :D Hi Finland ! love you !

  There was a Moomin marathon last year on tv and radio. All the Moomin books were read by famous actors and other well known Finns, among them president Stubb and the first lady.

  We have a lot Moomin idioms in Finland. Like someone not having all their Moomins in the valley.

  There are many tv-series adaptations but the 90&apos;s version stands above all. The soundtrack of that show is god tier.
